Optional items
Mark a slot optional and the customer decides whether it is in or out.
Making an item optional
On the Bundle Items tab, tick Optional on any slot. On the storefront that item gains an “Include this item” toggle. Everything else about the slot (quantity, variations, layout) works exactly as before.
What it changes
- Skipped: the item is left out of the live total and out of the order entirely. Its stock is not touched.
- Included: the item is priced and ordered like any other slot.
- The shop price: optional items are excluded from the “From £X” figure, so the headline price is the true minimum a customer could pay.
The toggle is fully keyboard operable, and the running total updates the moment it is flicked.
When to use it
- A free or paid add-on: a tote bag or gift box the customer can add or leave.
- A gift with purchase the customer may decline.
- A “make it a set” upsell alongside required items.
A common pattern is two or three required items plus one optional extra. The required items set the floor price; the optional one is pure upside.
Optional items vs choice slots
These solve different problems:
- Optional item: one specific product the customer includes or skips.
- Choice slot Pro: the customer picks which product from a pool you define, and a choice slot can itself be optional.
